Maker Mondays at the Library!

Join us as we kick-off our new "Maker Mondays" series every Monday at the library:

January 6 from 6pm - 7pm: Kawaii Craft Project. All things cute and adorable! Kawaii, born in Japan, is the culture of cuteness and its influence is everywhere in toys, clothes, games, etc. Join us in celebrating Kawaii and making some adorable crafts. Recommended for tweens and teens; no cost or registration.

January 13 from 6pm - 7pm: ARTifact Snowman Mug. Who doesn’t love a toasty cup of cocoa? Even better in an adorable snowman mug? ARTifact will help us create one-of-a-kind mugs that participants can take home. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult; no cost. Registration required beginning January 2nd.

January 27 from 5pm - 6:30pm: Bookmark Contest Work Session. Help the Blue Earth County Library celebrate reading and have some fun by designing a bookmark! Artist Lisa Bierer will be here with advice and ideas for design, and we’ll have plenty of supplies available for you to use.

February 3 from 5:30pm - 7pm: Storybook Quilts. Inspired by African American quilting traditions and styles, such as scrap and story quilts, participants will combine painting, fabric and visual storytelling to create pieces of art that share personal stories. Participants will also learn about famous quilters, discuss how a picture can tell a story and use a variety of materials to make quilts of their own. Youth under 18 are welcome; no cost or registration. Limit of 20.

February 10 from 6pm - 7pm: Makerspace Jewelry Making. Join us as we host artist Cindy Bourne from Mankato Makerspace, a talented artist skilled in jewelry making. She will teach attendees to make a beaded stretch bracelet. Participants under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. No cost; no registration. Limit of 20.

February 24 from 6pm - 8pm Canvas Painting. Come and have some fun! This is a hands-on, engaging DIY workshop. Design & Wine will provide all of the tools and materials for participant s to create a canvas painting. Participants will learn a variey of painting tricks, have a lot of fun and leave with a gorgeous painting to hang in your home. Registration required beginning February 3.
