National Poetry Month Reading Series: Candace Black and Open Mic Night

Friday, April 30, 2021

April is National Poetry Month and we're celebrating at the BECLS! Join us (via Zoom) for weekly readings each Friday evening with acclaimed and emerging Minnesota poets—we hope you'll be inspired to write a few poems of your own! Candace Black is the author of The Volunteer, Casa Marina, and Whereabouts. Her poetry and creative nonfiction has appeared widely, including in Pinyon, Great River Review, and War, Literature & the Arts. She teaches in the creative writing program at Minnesota State University, Mankato. An open mic will follow Candace's reading: we invite patrons to celebrate National Poetry Month by writing some poems and sharing their work to cap off our month-long reading series.
